Principals of Fulcrum Capital

The founding principals of Fulcrum are Timothy Horrigan and Mathew Hamilton. Jesse Hibbard and Shawn Abboud joined Fulcrum as principals in January 2010.

Jesse Hibbard

Mr. Hibbard has been an active participant in the US corporate credit market for nearly twelve years. Prior to joining Fulcrum, Mr. Hibbard was an Executive Director on the Credit Sales and Trading desk at APS Financial Corp. That desk was an active market maker in high yield and distressed bank debt, bonds and trade claims. Prior to joining APS, Mr. Hibbard was a Senior Analyst at Och-Ziff Capital Management where he focused extensively on distressed securities investments across the capital structure.

Prior to Och-Ziff, Mr. Hibbard was a Portfolio Manager for the US Corporate Credit business at HBK Capital Management where he also focused on distressed securities investments. He has sat on numerous creditor committees and has been deeply involved in many U.S. restructurings. He began his career at Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette in 1998. Mr. Hibbard graduated summa cum laude from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

Matthew Hamilton

Prior to founding Fulcrum, Mr. Hamilton was a Managing Director and Head of Private Debt Trading for APS Capital Corp., a distressed investment boutique focusing on trade claims and bank debt research, sales and trading. Prior to his appointment as a Managing Director at APS, Mr. Hamilton was the firm’s litigation/bankruptcy analyst where he specialized in pre-bankruptcy, recovery, liquidation, and post-reorganization analysis of issuer’s filing for Chapter 11 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy protection.

Mr. Hamilton also gained experience at Tisdale & Associates as an attorney specializing in restructuring and real estate foreclosure. Prior to Tisdale, Mr. Hamilton was with Akin, Gump, Strauss, Hauer and Feld, LLP working in the firm’s corporate and securities section.

Mr. Hamilton attended San Jose State University on a Division I baseball scholarship and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Administration of Justice and a concentration in Finance. Mr. Hamilton is also a graduate of UC Hastings where he earned his JD with a specialization in Tax.

Sorush Abboud

Mr. Abboud has been an active participant in the US corporate credit market for over eight years. Prior to joining Fulcrum, Mr. Abboud was an Executive Director on the Credit Sales and Trading desk at APS Financial Corp. That desk was an active market maker in high yield and distressed bank debt, bonds and trade claims. Prior to joining APS, Mr. Abboud was a Senior Analyst at Och-Ziff Capital Management where he focused extensively on stressed and distressed securities investments across the capital structure, with a specific focus on capital structure arbitrage opportunities. Before that, Mr. Abboud was a senior analyst for the Distressed Credit Proprietary Trading business at Goldman, Sachs & Co where he also focused on distressed securities investments. He also spent some of his time at Goldman, Sachs & Co as credit research analyst covering the US life & non-life insurance industries. He began his career at APS Financial in 2002. Mr. Abboud is a holder of the Chartered Financial Analyst designation. Mr. Abboud graduated from the New York University’s Stern School of Business with a Masters in Business Administration. He also holds a Bachelors Degree in Business Administration from the University of Texas McCombs School of Business.

Timothy Horrigan

Prior to founding Fulcrum, Mr. Horrigan spent 11 years at APS Financial Corporation where he was a Senior Vice President in the Distressed and Special Situations group. At APS Financial, Mr. Horrigan was instrumental in growing the organization’s Institutional Sales and Trading group. The group’s primary focus was analyzing and trading illiquid/distressed fixed income securities.

Before joining APS Financial, he worked in the Mortgage Strategies group at PaineWebber in New York. At PaineWebber, Mr. Horrigan assisted Laurie Goodman’s top ranked mortgage research group.

Mr. Horrigan earned his MBA from the University of Texas in 1994 and graduated with honors from Michigan Technological University with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. Prior to beginning his career in finance, Mr. Horrigan worked as an Aerospace Structural Design Engineer for both General Dynamics and NASA.
